Week in Review

The only way we get better is learning from what we do right and wrong. Week in review is a page dedicated to the results from the past weeks watch list. A chance to be a Monday morning QB, if you will.

Each weekend I'll post the prior business weeks results and highlight where the watch list might have done better. Please keep in mind even though Fridays watch list is included it has not had enough time to shake out. It can only indicate a general direction and will be reviewed in the following week's Week in Review

Week Ending : October 17, 2014

Out of 22 stocks picked for the watch list 12 went in a positive direction (six of them at 5% or better), 1 was neutral,  9 went in a negative direction. Entry price reflects opening price for each stock on that given date. Entry date = Watch list date

SPHS

Premise for watch listAscending triangle forming. Had some decent volume on the 12th and had broken the 200MAno retest ever occurred. No catalyst brought this down. I believe it was simple profit taking and it never recovered. If you entered prior to the 3.30 buy signal then the suggested stop protected you.

HEB

Premise for watch list - EBOLA PLAY! The theme for the week. It had a great gap up on Monday breaking the 200MA and hitting .3997. Alas this name, in retrospect, was to thin and truly wasn't relevant to the weeks theme. For a day trade this would have been a good bet .... not for a swing though.

RCPI

Premise for watch list - Reverse trend and poised to take out the 200MA. A break out above .35 seemed imminent. The 15th it gave a good go at the price point but slid sideways the rest of the week. I believe this stock is still a contender for a breakout this week. I'm still in the hunt on this one.

GWPC

Premise for watch list - Once again Ebola Theme as well as a PR catalyst. Idea was a very short term swing. It fell flat on its face. Had a pop and died . Thin name, nobody interested. I foo-bared this one, my fault.

HL

Premise for watch list - Long term swing on a channel pattern. Started doing what was expected with the upward grind. It then got sent off coarse by the craziness of market on Friday. If you went in early your stop should have kicked in. I still think this will follow through and get back on track, but will take a wait and see approach till it confirms.

To soon for comment on Friday's watch list 10/17/2014 not enough time for it to shake out. I will cover this past Friday in the next Week in Review.
